Medical oncology

With an expert team of consultants and oncology specialist nurses, SVICCAR offers best in class medical oncology services for patients. With a host of diagnostic facilities and advanced laboratory services, the medical oncology wing provides comprehensive cancer diagnosis and treatment via chemotherapy, pain management and palliative care.

Radiation oncology

SVICCAR is equipped with state of art Linear Accelerator with SRS facility and a dedicated Brachytherapy facility for targeted cancer treatment. These equipment provide targeted cancer treatment via doses of high-energy radiation to kill cancer cells and ease disease related symptoms. The department offers quality and capability of latest technology with an expert and compassionate medical team that works towards effective management of the disease.

Surgical oncology

The Surgical oncology department at SVICCAR performs diagnostic, curative and preventive surgeries via a team of highly qualified and trained medical professionals. The hospital has 3 modular Operation Theatres with latest equipment to carry out open and minimal access surgeries

Palliative care

Palliative Care is a supportive care that focuses on improving the quality of life of patients and care givers/ family members by managing symptoms and side effects. Palliative care therapists at the hospital help patients and care givers in identification and management of physical, mental, emotional and social aspects of cancer care. Palliative care adds to effectiveness of treatment as it can be started at any stage of the disease and can be continued through treatment, recovery and post care.

Radiology

SVICCAR provides comprehensive disease management by enabling accurate diagnosis and staging of the disease, which enables in treatment planning and monitoring of thepatient’s response to treatment. The Radiology department at the hospital is managed by qualified and adept team and is equipped with MRI – 1.5 T Scanner, CT-Scan, Digital Mammography, Digital X-Ray and Portable and High-end Ultrasonography. The hospital provides interventional radiology services in the form of USG guided biopsies and FNAC.

Laboratory Services

SVICCAR offers a range of laboratory services with best in class technology for hematology, cytopathology, histopathology, molecular pathology, immunohistochemistry, biochemistry, frozen section, immunology and microbiology. Advanced technology and a trained team of pathologists and technicians form an integral part of disease diagnosis and treatment planning.

Anaesthesia and Critical Care

The Onco-Anaesthesia department is committed to provide anaesthesia and peri-operative care to patients, undergoing cancer surgeries, disease management procedures and Non-Operating Room Anaesthesia (NORA) at Radiotherapy. The division runs a pre-anaesthesia check-up (PAC) clinic to assess patients for surgeries or procedures under anaesthesia. The critical care team at the hospital is adept in managing critically ill oncology patients. The team handles a ten-bed ICU, along with isolation facilities for managing severely compromised neutropenic patients.

Nursing

There are three kinds of Specialist nursing professionals at SVICCAR – Oncology Specialist Nurses, Palliative Care Nurses and Outreach Nurses. The Oncology Specialist Nurses are skilled in caring for patients undergoing all types of cancer treatments and delivering evidence-based care. Palliative care nurses provide supportive care to patients and enable them in achieving a good quality of life. They educate patients and family members for home care and techniques for effective symptom management. Outreach nurses support the public health team in carrying out screening and awareness activities and training frontline health workers for cancer screening, creating awareness among communities and encouraging lifestyle modifications for cancer prevention and enhancing effectiveness of treatment.
