In a noteworthy achievement, the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Cancer Care & Advanced Research (SVICCAR), renowned for its commitment to providing affordable cancer treatment, has received commendation from the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board on World Environment Day this June.
As a prominent cancer hospital in South India, SVICCAR has been acknowledged for its exemplary implementation of environmentally sustainable practices.
The Pollution Control Board evaluated actions taken by municipal corporations, health care institutions, and factories to choose the awardees. Organisational measures, such as reducing plastic usage, were key factors considered in the Board's decision-making process.
SVICCAR's dedication to environmental stewardship complements its primary focus on cancer care. The institute actively organises cancer screening camps, educating people on the importance of early detection. Integrating environmental conservation into its core objectives, SVICCAR aims to provide quality and affordable cancer care to the local community in close proximity to their homes.
SVICCAR is an advanced oncology facility equipped with state-of-the-art technology for disease diagnosis and treatment. The hospital has been set up by Tata Cancer Care Foundation (TCCF), supported by Tata Trusts in partnership with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The Trusts actively pursue important issues in the public sphere, with health, nutrition, livelihoods, and water being central themes closely intertwined with environmental concerns. SVICCAR is guided by the Trusts value system ensuring access to environmentally sustainable infrastructure.
