CAP at S.V. Junior College for the Deaf

On 18th April 2026, a Cancer Awareness Program (CAP) was successfully conducted at S.V. Junior College for the Deaf. The session was led by Dr. Prasanth, Medical Director of SVICCAR, with the objective of educating students about cancer and its prevention. Around 250 students, including both girls and boys, staff and teachers are actively participated in the program.

During the session, Dr. Prasanth explained what cancer is, its various types, common causes, and the importance of early detection. He emphasized simple preventive measures such as maintaining a healthy lifestyle, avoiding tobacco, and undergoing regular health check-ups. Special focus was given to the importance of vaccinations, particularly the HPV vaccine, in preventing certain types of cancers. He also provided information about the advanced treatment services and facilities available at SVICCAR.

To ensure effective communication, the entire session was translated into Indian Sign Language (ISL) by the teachers, making it accessible and easy to understand for all students. The interactive session helped clarify doubts, raised awareness, and empowered students with knowledge about cancer prevention and the importance of timely medical care.
